Every day I go for a walk

Every Day I go for a walk
Every day I go for a walk. Not always because I want to but because I have to. I have a dog and that is one of the highlights of her day.  You got spots to sniff and dig in. squirrels, birds and an occasional other dog from the neighborhood.

Years ago I read a poem about going for a walk.  How before you go for a walk are you prepared. What if you were to die on your walk? Would the one’s you love know how you feel about them, do you have any unsaid words to them? Are all your affairs in order?  WOW! I want to do that always let people know how I really feel. Say what is always on mind. Always have things settled and understood no matter what.

In reality this is not going to happen as you know. I had coworker years ago and we were great friends. I was a waitress and he was the cook we had the night shift. My boys were pre- teens and he was in his early twenties. He had a band so I asked him to come over and teach the boys music.  We got to know each other pretty good. One day at work he was just rude to me all night for no reason. It went on for a week. He would almost bring me to tears. The manager saw what was happening and told me not to worry about it because it was not me he was mad at but something going on in his life.  Really I thought so why is it me that he is attacking? Can’t he tell me himself I thought we were close enough for him to tell me what was bothering him?

Another week went by and when the restaurant was fairly empty and we would fix ourselves a meal and take a break I walked by the kitchen counter. A plate of over easy eggs with rye toast flew up under the hot lights and he appeared saying, did someone order eggs and toast. This was one of my favorite things to eat.  I just looked at him and walked away.  I really did like him and I should have forgiven him.  I didn’t though and life went on.

This is just a small example of many times and situations.

Also there is the part about having your affairs in order.  ? Grandma Stanfield wrote the best living will ever. I respected the woman loved her dearly, but she had twenty some years to prefect dying.  She lived to 97 and had all her faculties.  I guess I should start some day.

Every day I go for a walk. Not always because I want to, but because I have to. I have to keep my sanity. I will never be able to be prepared at any given moment so for now I will just walk, wave at and occasionally chat with neighbors and always hope for the best.

Always make good use of your time

You have to make good use of your time

The other day I asked an employee why was she so late for work . She just looked at me with a fretful look on her face. “I don’t know,” she said. “I left home on time, I just did my usual stuff and now I am here.” “I must have been in a time warp”.  (No drugs were involved.)

I guess I had to believe her because she looked sincere about it. Actually, she looked dazed and confused. She walked out the room mumbling something about it should only take me 20 min. Where did the time go?

I too have been a victim of that very same time warp. It has happened more times than I would like to admit. I will tell the C.O. (chief organizer aka my hubby.) I will be back in about an hour. Two hours later, I am still out doing my stuff. Although, he has learned over the years that YES I do know my way home, YES I will get there eventually and  NO do not ask me any details (cause I don’t remember)( No drugs were involved) Traffic was slow, I had to stop and talk to someone, the line at the gas station was long. It mystifies me! Maybe it’s because I am juggling work, home and everything else all the time.

I wonder when this time warp grabs us. Is it when we pull out of the driveway? Is there an invisible bubble that we drive into? I wonder what we do in this time warp. Do aliens grab us, probe our minds and then erase our memories.

So remember, you have to make good use of your time. Because you never know when those time warp aliens are going to snatch you up and waste your time.

Football season

Bing.com images

It’s almost football season.

Fall is approaching and I can just smell the football in the air. Joy and hope fills my heart with the anticipation of the new season. This time we will get it right. This is ouryear. . The crisp air brings a feeling of excitement.  My emotions start to run the gamut.  Just at the thought of it, the thought of the all-important super bowl (and it is my team winning by a large margin).

Maybe this is why fall has been my favorite season. The football season is fresh and anyone (even my team, I can always hope) has a chance. Even in the years, I thought we would go nowhere they have surprised me. Hope builds up in my heart and gives it an added boost. It can carry me through a tuff day just thinking about the last (if they won) or next game (hope springs eternal). Yet my team still has not won a super bowl. Maybe they will achieve it in my lifetime. However, they are running out of time as I only have at least 25 maybe 30 good years left.

My team is the Minnesota Vikings. I was born and raised a Vikings fan. I must say (I am ashamed to admit) my eyes do stray when the stats are not adding up. You know, when the chances of even being in the play-offs are becoming slimmer and slimmer. My heart needs something to cling to, just for a while to carry me to the next season.  I am not saying I will ever cheat on them. I will always be a loyal Vikings fan. However, I have to cheer for someone in the super bowl. OK, it is just a little cheating, stop judging me.

My, to be daughter in law is a major Packers fan, she has a Packers tattoo on her ankle an every time her team needs a  boost, she sticks her ankle out into the air. Here is our chance to practice our superstations, our powers of witchery. . GET OUR MOJO ON. You know, if I do this the team will accomplish what needs to be done.  However, what If it does not happen, obviously, the other team must have more powerful mojo then our team. OK, we must give it a double whammy next time.  Maybe even a double whammy triple hex.  I have been known to even call and see if another fan is following the right procedure. Do you have your shirt on backwards too? What a ketchup stain, No, there is no need to wash it now. Thanks a lot, No wonder we are losing.

Camaraderie is the synopsis to football.  It bridges the gap between generation, race and social economic gaps; it takes us away from our everyday life for a few hours, where the only thing (I mean the only thing) that matters is getting the pigskin across the right goal line.

What woman would not love football? My reason for loving football is tight asses running down the field in tights. The testosterone is flying everywhere. The primal nature of this game entices me. Did I mention tight asses?

When I was younger, I would play football with my brothers out in the cow pasture. It was always a bonus if you could tackle someone into a cow pie, even better a fresh cow pie. What? A little dirt does not hurt anybody. Is this not what football is about getting down and dirty?

One time a young cow actually my Goldie, Ran over to use when we were playing football. She came crashing down the field. She wanted to join in. We were confused, as we had never seen her act like this before so we ran. My parents watched the whole incident and thought it was hysterical. When we got back to the yard they told us, she just wanted to join in and play.  So the next time we played in the cow pasture, we invited her to join us. She did not want anything to do with it. I think she felt slighted from the last time.

I do not understand anyone that has a mate that does not love football as much as they do.  Was there No long-term thinking about what will go down in the future. . I mean really, if you have to watch a game on the sly, or worse listen to how stupid the game is though out the game what fun is that. And they will never understand any of the Mojo stuff. What were you thinking? Obviously, you did not meet during football season.  I can understand having a mate that is a fan of another team. Actually, that would add more fun to it.  A Viking and Packer fan together.  Match made in heaven.

Bottom line, it is so much fun and such a roller-coaster ride who could not love football.

I don't know clouds

I really do not know clouds at all. I was sitting at a stoplight yesterday afternoon. Usually I am irritated to be stopped and have my time wasted. I looked up and saw a beautiful billowing cloud. I am always fascinated by how cloud move and change so flowingly.

As a child, I would lay at the top of a hill, on a hot summer’s day and watch the clouds.  It was better than television. Of course, we did not have the internet or any of the things we have today.   I would have watched the clouds anyways. They are fascinating, how they change and all the different forms they take on.

Storm clouds are beautiful and frightening all at once. Sometime when a storm is approaching, it seems as if a monster is coming towards you.  The roaring of the thunder inside the clouds is just massively powerful. Lightening in the sky is just a wonder. The colors in the sky are interesting.  Sometime, it is alarming the power that is in a storm. I like storms. I could have been a storm watcher.

On one of my walks around the pond, I saw a smiling face (cloud form) looking down at me from the sky. The mouth was moving. I wish I know what it was saying to me. I like to think I was being told all is well.  I know this sound crazy. Although, I know I am not the only one that looks to the sky for signs or answers.  I think we all look to the sky. After all, there is so much up there.  We can only venture to guess, Stars, planets, heaven and clouds.

I have an extensive amount of sky pictures in my inventory. I like to share some of them with you. In addition, I am sure you have seen it. It has been all over on the internet, The Angel over Florida photo.  I cannot say for sure if this is real. But then again I have seen some unexplainable things also. I think that is why we look to the sky.  We look for answers, guidance and hope in a cruel world.
